I’m Eric Brown, a full-time instructor of English composition and literature. I teach composition, literature, and creative writing courses, and I’m especially interested in helping students become more confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. I try to make writing and literature feel approachable while still challenging students to think deeply, take creative risks, and connect what we study to the world around them.
Outside the classroom, I’m interested in curriculum design, literacy studies, folklore, mystery and horror literature, and game-based learning. I’ve presented work on folklore in higher education, mentored graduate students in literature and pedagogy programs, and created interactive classroom projects focused on collaboration and analysis.
I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a specialization in speculative fiction and a Master of Arts in English Literature with a focus on twentieth-century American literature. I’m also currently pursuing a doctorate in English pedagogy with a specialization in contemporary literature.
